Kindergarten Friends is a neurodiversity-affirming social skills group designed to support children’s Kindergarten readiness by building fundamental social and emotion regulation skills in a supportive and structured environment. We serve a diverse population of students, including neurotypical and neurodiverse profiles such as ADHD and ASD, with low support needs. A strength of our group is our attention to the individual interests and growth areas of the children enrolled in each group to bring the learning material to life. Our integrative curriculum pulls from popular socioemotional learning curriculums, with creative week-to-week adjustments to meet participants where they are in their socio-emotional development. The primary goal of this group for 4 and 5-year-olds is to practice identifying and adjusting to the social norms of a Kindergarten classroom. This group will foster positive social interactions, communication, and emotional regulation and will focus on building foundational social skills to contribute to overall social and emotional development.
